Auction 2024 FAQs
Wondering what to expect from a Riverdale PTC Auction? Whether this is your first time or its been a long time since attending, either way, we have answers to your questions. If you don't see what you are looking for below, don't hesitate to reach out to the Auction team.

What do I wear? Will there be food? What is a paddle raise? We've got you covered.
Where do I arrive and when?
Auction night is Saturday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Theater & Cafe in Lake Oswego located at 106 N State St, Lake Oswego, OR. This event space overlooks Oswego Lake with many spaces for 200 Riverdale guests to hang out and mingle.

What do guests wear?
This year's theme is A Night at the Movies - guests can wear what they would normally wear to a nice dinner out on the town or they can go all-out "red carpet" glamour. There isn't any specific or formal dress code this year.
Our theme this year was inspired due to Auction occurring the night before The Oscars and by our location, The Lake Theater & Cafe, being an active local cinema.

What will Auction Night be like this year?
This year we will not be hosting a "live" auction. But instead, we will have several silent auction items to bid on, "parties with a purpose" to sign up for, a raffle giveaway to buy tickets for, and we will host a lively Paddle Raise. This year's Paddle Raise is a much needed ask, so be prepared to pledge!

Are table seats assigned? Who will I sit with?
Tables and seating will not be assigned this year. We will not be hosting a formal sit-down dinner but instead we will have scattered seating and serving what we call "dinner by the bite". See the menu below.
Guests can feel free to come alone, as a couple, or grab some friends and come as a group. This year is a more casual Auction format than our previous gala formats.

How do I buy tickets and how much will they be?
Tickets will be available to purchase from February 9 - March 1 or until sold out. The event will be capped out at 200 guests, so please purchase sooner versus later.
General Tickets are $125 and include all food, complimentary wine/beer, and a cash bar for cocktails

The best option would be to ride share/taxi to The Lake Theater & Cafe.
But if you are driving (responsibly) there are several parking options nearby:
-
Public Parking Lot at the intersection of State St. & Foothills Rd.
-
Across the street in the parking lot in front of Willamette Valley Winery. Note: Whole Foods 365 state that they will tow in their lot.
-
Street parking on Leonard Street, North Shore Rd, or Lakeside Plaza next door allows parking in their parking structure but their spaces are limited.

Is there an Online Auction again this year?
Yes! The online auction will run the week prior to the in-person event. Registration and bidding will open on Thursday, February 29 and run for a week until the day of the event, Saturday, March 9. Get ready for a little friendly competition! We will have a lot of great new offerings this year. For those who cannot attend in-person, you can still join in and support the PTC by bidding online.
General Auction FAQs
Why do we have an Auction?
We have an auction to raise money to support Riverdale’s Parent Teacher Club. The PTC funds and runs dozens of programs at the grade school and high school, including but not limited to:
-
Robotics and Maverick Club
-
After school extracurricular activities ("community school")
-
Field Day, Candy Crawl and other festive events throughout the school year
-
Care Giver/Parent community events like Ladies Stag, coffee connect, and Parties with a Purpose
-
Drama, Oregon Battle of the Books, guest speakers, and cultural assemblies
-
Teacher and staff grants for technology, conferences, equipment, projects, and school supplies
-
Teacher appreciation monthly meals and gifts
-
Grade School Garden support
-
Booster Club supporting both schools' athletics
-
7th/8th Grade activities such as Winter Formal and Promotion
-
Senior Graduation activities and fundraising
-
And much, much more!
The auction is the single largest source of revenue for the PTC; and as such, we depend on our community to participate and be part of this District and community-wide event.

How can I be involved with the auction?
You can be involved in so many ways! If you would like to donate a gift item for auction, be a business sponsor, or volunteer to help the night of Auction, we would love to hear from you!

What is a Paddle Raise?
Each year, our principals and superintendent submit their wish list for a special purchase or specific need and we ask our community to raise their bidding paddles on Auction Night to support their request. Unlike other funds raised at auction, the money contributed by the community during the Paddle Raise is specifically ear-marked for this District request. You can learn all about this year's paddle raise by going to the Paddle Raise menu option.
Community members that cannot attend in person can donate online to Paddle Raise. A link to donate to Paddle Raise will be announced soon!

What are "Parties with a Purpose" or what was known as Party Packs?
Parties with a Purpose are another important PTC fundraiser and unique to Riverdale. These parties are hosted throughout the year by small groups of parents. The hosts cover the costs of the party and all the proceeds from the ticket sales are donated back to the PTC. Some parties are adult-only, some are kid-focused, and some are fun for the whole family. There is truly a party for everyone. They are also great opportunities to get to know each other and connect socially outside of school.

We will provide a link to sign up for this year's Parties as Auction Night nears.

If you'd like to Chair and lead up the organization of this year's Parties or if you'd like to host one, please reach out to auction@riverdaleptc.org

What if I can’t attend this year?
If you can't attend Auction Night, hopefully you can participate in our Online Auction launching February 29. There are many other ways to support Riverdale PTC before and after March 9 like donating to the Paddle Raise and giving a tax deductible donation to the PTC thru their website.
For more information on how to support the PTC, please contact: rgspresident@riverdaleptc.org or rhspresident@riverdaleptc.org. All financial questions can be sent to rgstreasurer@riverdaleptc.org.
Be sure to read the weekly PTC Newsletter and check out our social media pages for the latest Auction updates and ways to participate.
